Original Artwork with Cyanotype Print on Fabric This piece is presented in a shadow box frame made of American Walnut wood.

The chosen frame serves a dual purpose: first, to create a sense of depth and flotation that emphasizes the artwork; and second, to provide protection by keeping the fabric away from the glass for optimal long-term preservation.

Cyanotype Technique Works The use of this medium—photography as a documentary tool—began in the mid-19th century and became famous through the work of British botanist Anna Atkins.

Using this technique, Atkins created the first photographic herbarium (an herbarium is a collection of dried plants containing critical data for the collector, such as the physical location and the time the plant was gathered).

I integrate this technique into my work with press-dried flowers, using light to express their transparency and beauty.
