Souvenirs
The connection between pressed flower works and the concept of "souvenirs" is both historical and emotional. The souvenir album industry from the Land of Israel flourished about 150 years ago (more on that in this post in the blog). Today, every flower I collect — passing through a slow process of drying and on to the final piece — is a connection of memory to a place and a moment. The objects in this category invite contemplation at the meeting point of pressed flowers with a substrate of glass, clay, and unique bookmark prints.

When several pieces are placed together, an additional layer of beauty emerges. Each flower is catalogued with the place and time of its collection, creating a record for my personal "herbarium." A unique keepsake that bridges the childhood memory of pressing flowers between the pages of books with the contemporary act of creating a unique print from original flowers dried using the traditional flower press method. האריח העגול הוא אובייקט שנעשה בשיתוף פעולה יחד עם הקרמיקאית יפעת ורצ׳יק פרץ מסטודיו mud. הצבעים של האריחים בגוונים חמרה, אפור, שחור ולבן, נבחרו כרקעים שונים ועליהם שיבצתי פרחי מקור מיובשים (באותה טכניקה של הדבקה עדינה). השילוב בין צבע החימר לצבעם של הפרחים מאפשר לי להדגיש באובייקט את הצבעוניות המיוחדת ביניהם. הפריטים מיועדים לתלייה על הקיר באמצעות חוט זמש שמתחבר לאריח ומשתלב עם הצבעוניות הכוללת.
The round tile is an object made in collaboration with ceramic artist Yifat Varchik Perez of Studio Mud. The tile colors — in shades of terracotta, grey, black, and white — were chosen as varied backgrounds, onto which I set original dried flowers (using the same technique of delicate adhesion). The combination of the clay tones with the colors of the flowers allows me to highlight, within the object, the special interplay of color between them. The pieces are designed to hang on the wall using a suede cord that connects to the tile and integrates with the overall palette.
